Many users who previously used the robust Digium D65 phones claim that Sangoma P-Series Phones feel cheaper to the touch. The casing is lighter, and the plastic seems thinner than in Yealink’s armoured T5 series. On the FreePBX forum, critical voices appeared regarding the design of the P330 model – users note that the bezels around the screen are very wide, which makes the device itself large, but the workspace (screen) does not impress with its size compared to the body of the phone.
2. Software Evolution and Teething Troubles
The thread “Disappointed with P330 and PhoneApps” on the official Sangoma forum sheds light on the problems that plagued this series shortly after its premiere. Yealink is a global hardware leader. Their phones are armoured, keys have perfect travel, and sound quality (Handset and speakerphone mode) is reference class. Choose Yealink if:
- You care about a prestigious look and “heavy”, solid equipment on the desk.
- You already have a commercial EPM (Endpoint Manager) licence or plan to configure phones manually/via scripts. It is worth emphasising: Yealink works excellently with FreePBX. Lack of an EPM licence does not block the phone’s operation – it only hinders its mass, central management and configuration changes “on the fly” from the server level.
- You need specific hardware functions (e.g., a specific type of sidecar console).
When to choose Sangoma P-Series?
Choose Sangoma if:
